The PIXMA MX340 Wireless Home Office All-In-One delivers the versatility you need to experience increased productivity in your home or small office. Its built-in Wireless connectivity allows you to print or scan wirelessly from anywhere in the house. The built-in, fully integrated 30-sheet Auto Document Feeder delivers fast copying or scanning of your originals so you can do other things while your printer is at work. Plus, various security features like password protected PDF’s let you feel safe about creating and distributing your most confidential files.
The Pixma MX340 has a sleek, rounded appearance with attractive slate-gray and off-white styling. The gray has a matte finish, while the white has a glossy finish, giving the printer a distinct look. Though plastic, the construction feels solid, with movable parts that close securely. A dual-lid system helps prevent both lids from opening separately at the same time. Reach under the overhanging lip, and you lift the document cover to reveal the glass scanning plate. Reach further down, and you pick up the scanning-unit cover, along with the document cover, to reveal the ink-cartridge housing underneath.
You raise a flap at the top rear of the printer to open up the paper-input tray. (The flap serves as both a guide and a support mechanism for the paper.) Similarly, you swing open a door in the front of the printer to establish a retaining surface for the paper output tray. Both can be closed when you don’t need to have paper entering or exiting the printer.
Looking at this configuration, you may think you’ve spotted a design flaw: What happens if you forget to open the output-tray door before you initiate a print job? Does the paper become crumpled inside the printer? Not to worry, Canon has engineered the door so it opens automatically to print if you leave it closed. If you’re unaware of this, you may be in for a shock when the door suddenly pops open on its own just before the paper needs to exit the printer.
